This Conservancy comprised initially of two farms, a cattle farm (the area where the lodge is situated on), and a game farm (480ha in total) with resident Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Blesbuck, Steenbok, Duiker, Kudu, Warthog and Bushpig. With the formation of the conservancy naturally occurring species such as Giraffe, Waterbuck, Gemsbok, and Ostriches were reintroduced as well as additional Zebra, Blue Wildebeest and Impala to diversify the gene pool. Leopard is endemic to the Waterberg, and the conservancy shares some spectacular specimens with neighboring game farms. The Conservancy was established in 2001, when the 2 properties were joined. In excess of 5 Tons of intersecting cattle wire, and fence poles were removed – finally game could traverse the two properties freely. Roads were built and cleared with minimum damage to the ecology, a new waterhole was established on the Serengeti “alike” Plain, which can be seen from the lodge, and water pumped to the main dam (which in high rain season boasts a spring) some 3.9km from the lodge. The entire property is completely fenced and complies fully with all Nature Conservation standards. Staff and management take maintaining the conservancy extremely serious, no firewood or any other natural material are collected due to the impact of such practices on the micro and macro ecology of the area. Besides denuding the soil of vital nutrients, its disrupts the natural cycle of life.
