The town of Gordons Bay is known for it's artist community and is a feature on the Western Cape tourism scene. Somerset West and the Strand is 10 minutes away. The area is serviced by the Somerset Mall shopping centre - the third largest regional mall in the Western Cape. Access to the area is provided from the N2 highway.
Gordon's Bay exudes charm with its narrow streets and bustling waterfront. The imposing backdrop of the Helderberg Mountain range creates a picturesque cove, which welcomes windsurfers, water-skiers, sailors, fisherman and sun-worshippers from across the globe. The main beach lies right across from an array of restaurants, coffee shops and bars along the waterfront.
For those interested in nature, there are breathtaking walks and trails along the Steenbras Dam and the Helderberg mountain ranges. Between June and November the shallow bays alongside Boyes Drive towards Rooi-Els and Betties Bay, are visited by Southern Right whales.
A multitude of viewpoints gives the day-tripper a perfect view of False Bay and its well-known beacons such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Nothing beats a red sunset over False Bay with the Cape Peninsula as a backdrop. The true romantics can take an evening stroll along the harbour wall or a sunset cruise from the old harbour. The harbour also offers a number of excellent seafood restaurants.
Gordon's Bay is a laid-back Mediterranean style destination with the city life’s luxuries literally on its doorstep.
