The residential area Die Bos was originally the farm Onverwacht which was sold off in 1990 for residential development and renamed Die Bos. This suburb is conveniently close (2kms) to the beach and all major routes via its southern border – Broadway Boulevard. Its northern border is the future N2 toll road, its Western border the railway line & its eastern border the new Checkers Shopping Center on Broadway Boulevard.

Die Bos/Onverwacht has had several gated village developments, which has contributed, to the suburb growing into one of the most affordable residential areas in the Strand – an area where you can still buy a fairly large house for less than R1,2 million. This area has the biggest concentration of sectional title apartment blocks & own title gated villages.
